Saying goodbye to 2017

First, it should be said I’m not good at goodbyes. Or endings. But they happen all the same. Rather than dwell on what’s gone and how quickly it went, I’m going to try very hard to embody my favorite Dr. Seuss quote.

There’s been a lot of good this year though I think some of it was overshadowed by a lot of…not so good. In an effort to focus on the good, I’ll tell you what I wish for all of you this coming year (and for myself, too):

  • Moments of unadulterated happiness
  • Good friends
  • Laughter
  • Hugs
  • Kisses
  • Time with family
  • Kindness
  • The pleasure of giving to others
  • Good books (of course)
  • Health
  • Safety
  • An inner peace about the fact that we can’t control the world or the people in it, but we can control ourselves and make decisions that not only foster all of these things, but make the world a better place.

Be kind out there, whether it’s in person or online. Hang onto the feeling that the holidays bring. Reach out if you need help– there will be someone there. Be there for someone. Be the reason someone smiles.

Wishing all of you a wonderful 2018.
